Finally, Castlegar RCMP can share a good news story with residents, and Cpl. Mike Mysko wasted no time in penning the release.

“An 83-year-old male was reported missing off a tour bus travelling from Cranbrook to Richmond on the afternoon of Sept.15,” Mysko said.

“The man’s absence was noted after the tour bus stopped briefly in Castlegar then departed again, en route to Richmond.

“Inquiries with area restaurants, cabs and hospital failed to surface the man,” he said, adding they were concerned, but not yet panicked, and the man was physically and mentally able, and thus likely not in any immediate jeopardy.

“Followup investigation revealed that the male had failed to board the bus in Creston after a brief stop there, Mysko said. “The male had contacted family in Cranbrook and was safely picked up without incident.

“It was a happy ending.”
