All welcome at massive community potluck
A huge community potluck picnic is in the works as plans come together for the 10th annual Blueberry Community School Hub picnic.
School coordinator Bev George said last year drew 163 people – and they’re hoping for even more this year.
“The picnic is to get members of the community together, celebrating being a part of our community,” she said. “Everyone’s welcome.”
She said there’ll be waterplay and outdoor games for the kids, as well as crafts, painting and other fun stuff, and the school will provide hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks.
“Please bring your own plates and cutlery, as well as lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on,” she said. “We also ask that you bring a dessert or salad, so it’s like a huge community potluck.”
Grown-ups and kids alike can also enjoy some live Bluegrass performances, she said.
“The last Friday of every month, we have people come from all over – even the U.S. – to jam and listen to Bluegrass players – and they always come at play at our picnic.
“Our lovely seniors will cook the meat that M&M Meat Shops so kindly discounted for us,” she added.
The fun starts at 4 p.m. and the dinner starts at 5 p.m., and George asks that anyone planning to attend contacts her at 250-365-7201 so she’ll know how much meat to cook.
The picnic will be on Saturday, May 29.
