RCMP: Second grow-op bust in area within days
Police have arrested two people in connection with RCMP’s second grow-op raid conducted in the area in the space of just a few days.
Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew said officers executed a search warrant at a suspected marihuana grow operation on Relkoff road in Rasberry, on July 29.
“Seized during the search were approximately 30 plants, all of which had been moved outside,” she said. “Assorted equipment used in the growing of marihuana was also located throughout the property. “
“It appeared that the property was set up to equip a larger grow operation than that which was left when officers conducted the search. Still, numerous items related to growing marihuana were seized by police.”
A 22-year-old female and a 54-year-old male are facing charges of production of, and possession of, a controlled substance, and are scheduled to appear in court in October.
This, just days after a July-26 raid saw a 30-year-old female arrested after police executed a search warrant for her residence in the 3100 block of Broadwater Road, in Robson.
Seized from the residence was 1/4 pound of high-grade marihuana suspected to have been a product of the grow op. Also seized from the yard of the residence were 98 marihuana plants. Remains of a very sophisticated marihuana grow operation were located in the outbuilding of the property and it appeared that it had been recently dismantled. While the plants had been removed, the equipment remained and officers estimate approximately $15,000 worth of growing equipment was seized.
