Second Castlegar man facing sex-related charges has his day in court
An 18-year-old Castlegar man has been convicted in the courts of Possession of Child Pornography (this case is not related to the case heard in court yesterday, involving a 24-year-old local man’s activities on Facebook).
The 18-year-old received a sentence of 14 days in jail, along with three years of probation. He also received court mandated counselling and is subject to numerous conditions which include:
– not to have contact or communicate with any child under the age of 14;
– not to have a computer or any device that will allow access to the internet in his home. If accessing the internet through any type of electronic device, that access must be supervised;
– Provide Police and Probation Officer access to his residence at any time for the purpose of monitoring his compliance with the terms of this probation order;
– participate in and complete assessments and/or counselling as directed by probation officer.
Police are not prepared to release this male’s name at this time, as other avenues of this investigation are still being pursued.
