Police are warning parents to keep an eye out for a suspicious male who may have tried to lure local children near a Castlegar school.

“On Thursday … at 6:45 p.m., three youths were sledding behind Castlegar Primary School when they observed a suspicious male hiding in the bushes watching them,” said RCMP Const. Tyler Mills. “The male was sdescribed as Caucasian and wearing all black clothing.”

All three kids were under the age of 12.

“The male began making goat noises, possibly in an attempt to draw the youths in his direction,” Mills explained. “The youths yelled at the male to leave them alone and then ran home to tell their parents.”

Mills commended the youths for handling the situation exactly as they should have, as well as the parents for contacing police – and he urges other residents to do likewise, should they encounter a similar situation.

“This male has not been located and police are requesting that members of the public with any information …contact the Castlegar RCMP at 250-365-7721.”
