First let me apologize for the sporadic columns lately. I just started a new job and the steep learning curve has left me a little short on time.

This week, I want to show off a great website called Make Use Of. he address is www.makeuseof.com and it has free articles on all sorts of different things, most related to technology. The most recent one to catch my eye is called Your Computer Inside and Out (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/pc-hardware-guide-download/). It’s the beginning of a series on the different parts of your computer and how they work.

This knowledge is invaluable when it comes to figuring out problems with your computer, seeing through bafflegab from unethical salesmen or even just understanding the good advice from ethical salesmen or computer techs. Our society relies so much on computers today and that’s not likely to change in the foreseeable future. Having a rudimentary understanding of how they work is not a bad idea. They’re not magic, I promise! Once you get into them, computers are actually very simple machines.

Even if this particular article doesn’t interest you, there are literally dozens of others, with new ones being added on a regular basis. I’ve signed up for the notification, so I get an email once or twice a week on what’s new. Of all the emails I’ve gotten, almost every one has something useful or interesting.

Good luck and happy computing.
