The United Steelworkers Locals 9705 and 1-405 and Kootenay Savings Credit Union are pleased to announce they have reached a tentative agreement on the renewal of their collective agreement, which expired on Dec. 31, 2010, for their unionized East and West Kootenay locations. Details of the agreement will remain confidential until both parties have had the opportunity to ratify with their principals. Both parties are unanimously recommending acceptance of the package deal.

Brent Tremblay, President and CEO of Kootenay Savings said, “We are extremely pleased to have reached a tentative agreement after a challenging set of negotiations. Both bargaining committees are to be commended for the professional and respectful way in which these negotiations have been carried out. Mutual respect and understanding of issues from both parties were keys in arriving at the agreement.”   “After a long and difficult round of bargaining, with our members’ courage and support, we are glad to be able to recommend this package to our members”, said Doug Singer, Financial Secretary for the USW, Local 1-405 in Cranbrook, who represent the Employees of the Kimberley Branch of KSCU.   Chuck Macklon, President USW Local 9705 says, “It was a tough round of bargaining for everyone, especially our members who endured four months of bargaining and uncertainty; we commend them for their strength and support. Our Bargaining Committee will be recommending acceptance of the offer.”
