Mountain FM is getting local bands geared up for this year’s Spring Concert Series, slated to hit the stage at Castlegar’s annual Sun Fest June 3, 4, and 5.

“We’re looking for young, talented people to get some exposure on the Main Stage at Sun Fest,” said Justin “Drex” Wilcomes, of Mountain FM’s Drex and Johnson Morning Show. “Send us a sample of what you do – it can be original or a cover.”  He said you can email an MP3 file to drex@mountainfm.net or even a link to your You Tube or My Space performance – whatever works, just get the music to them so they can get you up on that stage, strutting your stuff.  “We want to hear what you’ve got,” he said.  And they want to hear it soon – although the deadline for submissions isn’t until Sun Fest itself, the popular Pharmasave-sponsored event is already filling up, with only a few time slots remaining.  “We think it’s critical, as Castlegar’s only radio station, that we provide an outlet for local talent who would otherwise be ignored by the media,” Drex said, adding he hopes to make the Spring Concert Series an annual event. “We have a lot of terrific hidden talent here to showcase.”  The shows will be free to the public, but a voluntary donation would be most welcome, with all proceeds going to Habitat 4 Humanity.  For more information, contact Mountain FM at 250-365-7600.
