This week, we here at Lone Sheep Publishing are proud to announce the launching of our new Green Flyers concept. In cooperation with several forward-thinking and environmentally-conscious local businesses, we’re now offering our readers access to local merchants’ weekly online flyers.

How does it work? Glad you asked.

When, as a subscriber, you receive your weekly newsletter from The Castlegar Source, Boundary Sentinel, Nelson Daily, or Rossland Telegraph, you’ll find a clickable button that will take you to a page that contains links to our advertisers’ latest flyers. Simply click away and start checking out the deals. Groceries, cars, meat, hardware, and more! The Green Flyer button will also rotate through the pages of all our newspapers.

Not a subscriber yet? Then check out the Virtual Paperboy box on our home pages!

It’s worth noting that each time you check out a Green Flyer you’re saying three things. First, you’re saying, “I support these companies’ efforts to move toward a greener way of doing business and the investments they’ve made in this new technology”. Second, you’re showing your support for our local merchants. Third? Well, you’re showing an interest in saving some money!

It’s no secret that ‘look and chuck’ paper flyers are a big problem: they cost BC thousands upon thousands of lost acres of forest each year. Business owners are as concerned about this situation as anyone. Here at Lone Sheep, we like to think that Green Flyers are a terrific first step in the right direction.

It’s good news. Contrary to what Kermit the frog thought, it’s getting easier to be green every day!
