A convicted drug trafficker will be spending the rest of her sentence in jail after breaching the conditions of her sentence, according to police.

Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Dan Pollock said 48-year-old Castlegar woman Barb Nelson was convicted in June 2010 of two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, and was subsequently given an 18-month conditional sentence.   “(Conditions included) three months of house arrest,” Pollock said. “Since her sentencing, the Castlegar RCMP and the Crime Reduction Unit have been conducting checks on Nelson to ensure her compliance with her conditions.   “Nelson has been found to not be obeying all of her conditions and, on March 30, her conditional sentence order was revoked. Because of these breaches, she was ordered to serve the remaining 10 months of her sentence in jail.”   She’ll remain incarcerated until Jan. 3, 2012.
