A second unprovoked, random assault in Nelson has police asking for public assistance in solving what they have dubbed a hate crime.

Nelson’s Sgt. Steve Bank says three young Korean exchange students were attacked in the 200 Block of Baker Street on April 30 at about 8:30 p.m.  “Although no serious injuries were sustained in the incident, the victims are very shaken and traumatized,” Bank said. “Due to language and cultural barriers, police have very little information regarding the suspects involved, except that they were two Caucasian males.”  He said police are requesting anyone with any information about the incident to contact the Nelson Police Department.  This, just a day before two men were arrested for randomly assaulting three pedestrians with bear spray.
