Trail man killed in altercation Sunday afternoon
A 26-year-old Trail man died today after what police are calling a “physical altercation” with a roommate. Trail RCMP Cpl. Dave Johnson said police were called to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital at just after 2 p.m. “The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital,” Johnson said. “Upon police attendance, it was determined that the two males whom had brought the injured to the hospital were involved in this incident. “Further investigation revealed that one of the males was a witness to the event and he was detained. The other male, a 17 year old Trail resident, was arrested and taken into custody, where he is currently being held pending a court appearance.” Johnsons said the Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment General Investigations Section was called in and have taken over the investigation. “This incident occurred between two males, known to each other, and was initiated at their shared residence for a known reason,” Johnson added. ” There is no indication that anyone else was involved and there is no threat of any danger to the public.” The identity of the victim is not being released at this time as the next of kin notification is being conducted. The investigation is ongoing and the Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment will be releasing more information as gathered, with the next expected release to be distributed by 11 a.m. tomorrow (Monday).
