Castlegar Mayor Lawrence Chernoff likely won’t remember 2011 as an election year – chances are, it will stick in his mind more because it’s the year his first grandbaby was born.

May 14 saw the birth of Aiden Michael Kooznetsoff, seven pounds 11 ounces, at 11:39 a.m.
“He’s healthy and beautiful,” Chernoff said, adding Aiden’s mom is recovering nicely as well.
Aiden was born to Chernoff’s daughter, Jennifer, and her husband Michael, both of whom live here in Castlegar.
Chernoff said he’s still able to focus on city business and is, in fact, spending Wednesday and Thursday in Nelson representing Castlegar – but his heart is with his grandson. The 63-year-old mayor is the father of two adult children: Jennifer, 34, and Jeremy, 28.
“I’m thrilled to death – I’ve waited for this, and now I’m really going to enjoy it,” he said. It’s over-the-top joy. There’s no better feeling.”

Chernoff’s wife, Jody, is also over the moon, he said.
“She’s so happy – she says she’s (Aiden’s) favourite already.”
Chernoff said he’s considering grooming his newest family member for political office down the road.
“One never knows – that might be a great idea.”
Warmest congratulations to the Chernoff/Kooznetsoff family … straight from The Source.
