Castlegar police are reporting a quiet May long weekend, with only 28 calls for service, according to RCMP Cpl. Dan Pollock.

“That’s compared to 58 calls for service over the same time frame last year,” he said, explaining that number represents calls that came in between 5 p.m. Friday and 12:01 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Pollock said he can’t even begin to guess why there was so little activity this year.

“It’s impossible to say – I have no idea,” he said. “We just got lucky, I guess.
