A man who requested that people driving down Baker Street run him over as he rode his bike Wednesday evening is now in the hospital.

The 33-year-old man was arrested by Nelson Police under the Mental Health Act and was transported to Kootenay Lake Hospital where a physician admitted him to a psychiatric facility.

Prior to that incident, police had arrested a 20-year-old man for breaching his undertaking, and slapped him with 13 new charges, including cheque fraud, theft under $5,000, uttering a forged document, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of a prohibition order.

“David Alexander Jones was held overnight and awaits a bail hearing,” said acting Sgt. Dino Falcone.
