To the editor:

Let me begin by saying this letter is addressing the enablers… the ones who turn a blind eye to something theyd rather not be aware of.

When a situation is worthy of being top national news, it should be just that … not what has happened in our town regarding the abuse of teenage girls.

When I first heard about the LG parties and found a copy of Deflowered in Seconds and read it…

Let’s just say that, as a father of two daughters, I had a lot of thoughts going through my mind.

The first thing that struck me was the double-edged-sword nature of the manual itself…it being a step-by-step guide to being a predator. I wondered about its overall effect on society… young minds are impressionable.

If a teen stumbles upon a forum such as Deflowered in Seconds and sees an alarming amount of approval from their peers (which there was, I read the comments), there is a good chance that said teen will think that abuse is normal and even funny like this maunual claims it to be.

But it’s no joke.

The only positive I found of its publication was that the information could be used to educate the youth on what not to do and what to look out for.

Now, to get back on the heels of the enablers… the news sources that refused to publish this story and the people who are trying to make this go away…well, it won’t go away.

Right now, we have a violent sex offender on the loose in B.C. … and that’s not funny, is it?

Maybe, if the degradation of women and the lack of empathy for the victims was addressed more seriously, we wouldn’t be breeding such monsters in our society… I’m not going to just ignore this problem, and neither should any of you reading this.

Thank you
