Nelson-based Tarasoft sold to California company
The Nelson company that developed the popular Matrix multiple listing service platform used by 17 MLS service’s across North America has been sold.
One hundred per cent of Tarasoft Corp. was sold Sept. 15 to real estate information and analytics provider CoreLogic for an undisclosed price.
There was no mention made whether there would be job losses in Nelson as a result of the sale, but U.S.-based CoreLogic said in a press release it would incorporate Tarasoft into its MarketLinx division.
Brian de Schepper and Seain Conover of Tarasoft “have indicated they want to be part of the team on a go-forward basis,” said Ben Graboske, CEO of CoreLogic MarketLinx in a press release.
“This is a growth play for us, not a ‘Reduce redundancies and overlapping costs’ play. Tarasoft has done a great job growing, and we want them to continue to grow,” Graboske said in the release.
Graboske said the purchase of Tarasoft made sense since it had amassed an impressive client list and were able to grow their “user” base despite an economic downturn.
Tarasoft has operated independently in Nelson since 1990. The company has gained market share in the MLS space since its inception and has earned the respect of numerous market real estate leaders throughout the United States and Canada.
Last month, Tarasoft announced a multi-year agreement with St. Louis-based Mid America Regional Multiple Listing Service (MARIS), which has 9,000 members, and renewal agreements with the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board (12,000 members) and the Regional Multiple Listing Service of Minnesota (NorthstarMLS, which has 16,000 members).
In June, nine realtor associations in California that belong to CRMLS switched over to the Tarasoft Matrix platform. Another CRMLS member, Van Nuys-based Southland Regional Association of Realtors, switched their 10,000 subscribers over to Matrix in January.
Other major MLS’s using Matrix include Kirkland, Wash.-based Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS); MLSListings Inc., the largest MLS in the San Francisco, San Jose and Monterey, markets in California; and Leawood, Kan.-based Heartland Multiple Listing Service.
Before acquiring Tarasoft, CoreLogic said it served eight MLSs each with more than 20,000 members. The company, headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif., has more than 6,500 employees globally with 2010 revenues of $1.6 billion.
