Castlegar RCMP are now releasing the name of the victim in Sunday night’s hit and run accident which badly injured a local man, according to RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.

“Fifty-two-year-old Albert Cancela, of Castlegar, remains in Kelowna hospital in serious condition with head injuries and a badly broken leg,” she said.

‘The 78-year-old suspected driver in this matter has been interviewed, and returned to his family pending the remainder of the investigation. It is believed that the man may be suffering from a health condition which may have been a contributing factor to this incident.”
