The truck’s seen better days, but no one was seriously injured in an accident that pitted a train against a pick-up truck, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Rob Hawton.

“At approximately 12:30 p.m., police received a call from the B.C. Ambulance Service about a collision between a truck and train at the railway crossing in Genelle,” he said.

“The 75-year-old Genelle resident slowed but failed to stop for the oncoming train. He stated he did not see it in time, despite the red flashing lights at the crossing and train horn.

“The train struck the front passenger side of the pickup truck. Neither the driver or his dog received any injuries.

“The driver was issued a Violation Ticket for failing to obey railway stop sign.”
