According to police, a young woman escaped from the Daly Pavilion at the hospital, climbed the Trail bridge and was threatening to commit suicide for roughly an hour last night, forcing police to redirect traffic as a safety precaution.

Trail RCMP Sgt. Rob Hawton said police were called at about 9:35 p.m. on Sunday to help the woman, but were unable to talk her down from the bridge.

“A doctor came down to help and was more successful than we were,” he said, adding the doctor convinced the woman to come down and return to treatment. “Fortunately, it ended well.”

The Daly Pavilion is a facility that handles mental health and addictions treatment.
