Nelson welcomes Eliviyah Dalton as 2014 New Year's Baby
The New Year got off to an amazing start for Falyn and Randy Dalton as the Pass Creek couple welcomed Nelson’s first baby of 2014 at 4 a.m. January 1.
“The birth was an amazing experience, one that nobody could have prepared me for,” mother Falyn said a few days after the birth of seven-pound, three-ounce Eliviyah Dalton.
“Once she was placed in my arms I just new I had found my soul mate.”
The birth of Eliviyah came as a bit of a shock to the Daltons.
The original due date for Falyn was in early January.
However, doctors had informed the new parents that date could change.
“My original due date was January 9, but our doctors have been preparing us for an expected early arrival since mid-December,” Falyn explained.
Falyn went into labour shortly before noon on New Year’s Eve.
With Randy, a heavy-duty mechanic still working up north, Falyn turned to her sister to help with the labour.
The two sisters arrived at Kootenay Lake Hospital at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
“I did a lot of labouring at home with my sister,” said Falyn.
Seven hours later, Eliviyah arrived into the world.
“After the Xmas season passed, we began to think we may end up having a New Years baby,” said Falyn, who used Face Time to have Randy join the delivery.
“Randy and I are so excited to begin this chapter as new parents to our perfect baby girl.”
Falyn was able to take Eliviyah home before the weekend with the two waiting for Randy to arrive in Pass Creek soon.
“Liv is very healthy and is adjusting to life at home very well,” said Falyn.
“This was the best New Years I’ve ever had.”
