Kootenay Pass closed for avalanche control Thursday

Motorists venturing to the East Kootenay had been put a little extra time into the travel budget as the Kootenay Pass will be closed near the summit for avalanche control Thursday.
Crews are closing the highway five kilometers east and west of the Kootenay Pass summit for avalanche control from 7-10 a.m.
Traffic should detour via Highway 3A and the Kootenay Lake Ferry.
The Kootenay Pass received upwards of 20 to 30 centimeters of snow the past few days.
