Amber Alert deactivated, children safe and unharmed

The BC Amber Alert issued earlier today was deactivated at 5:20 p.m., and the mother is now in custody, according to RCMP Sgt. Rob Vermeulen.

“Trina Meisel, 12 -year-old Talisha and six-year-old Taya have just
been located in the Lower Mainland,” he said, adding both children are safe and unharmed.

“With the assistance of public tips and information, police were able to
locate them in Boston Bar, BC and all three were taken in police custody
and care without issue,” he said. “48-year-old Trina MeiselL has been arrested in connection with two counts of Abduction under section 282(1) of the Criminal Code.

“The two girls are okay and investigators are working with the Ministry
of Children and Family Development with respect to their care.

“BC RCMP investigators also continue to work with Major Crime
investigators in southern Alberta with respect to their investigation.

“We would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.

“Everyone has been located as a direct result of public and media support
and the BC Amber Alert program.”
