The City of Trail and the Trail & District Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the first Trail Market on the Esplanade on Friday, June 6 will feature the live Cuban music of El Groupo Cubano, Brisas del Palmar. The band, from Santiago de Cuba, is touring BC and requested a busking spot at the first Trail Market on the Esplanade.

“We were ecstatic to receive the request,” says Norm Casler, Executive Director of the Trail & District Chamber of Commerce and Market Committee Member. “Live entertainment at the market is just one of the things that make it so great, and to have such a brilliant and talented musical group offer their time for our event is very exciting.”

Brisas del Palmar was formed in 1999 and is a vital part of ‘450 Group’, a prestigious catalogue of the best Cuban music groups in the Province of Santiago, Cuba. Their award-winning musical arrangements and harmonious voices are captivating and reflect their unique style and interpretation of traditional Cuban music, a capellas, romantic ballads, salsa and more.

“It’s the perfect addition to the market,” continues Casler. “Market-goers can enjoy the musical sounds of Cuba while shopping and strolling along the picturesque Esplanade. We hope this encourages other musical talents in the area to sign up for a busking spot at one of the upcoming markets.”

The Trail Market on the Esplanade occurs every second Friday at 10am-2pm from June 6 to Oct. 10. Vendor and busking spots are still available and can be booked by calling the Trail & District Chamber of Commerce at 250-368-3144. Vendor rules & regulations and vendor application forms are also available on the City’s website at trail.ca.
