Conservatives pick Marshall Neufeld as candidate in new SOWK riding
The race is on for the next federal election and the Conservative Party is happy to begin the campaign after nominating Marshall Neufeld for the new riding of South Okanagan West Kootenay (SOWK) by a margin of 88 percent during a meeting this past weekend in Penticton.
“I knew there was strong support, I was confident . . . our team worked hard right from day one, however, I am overwhelmed by the tremendous turn out and by the final results,” Neufeld said.
A total of 649 party members voted in nomination meetings held in Castlegar, Grand Forks, Osoyoos and Penticton.
“I am honoured and humbled to receive such a strong mandate from the party membership,” said Neufeld. “It gives me great confidence moving forward toward the next federal election.”
In his speech to the membership prior to the vote, Neufeld noted that this new riding of SOWK is winnable for the Conservative Party “If there is a high enough voter turnout.”
He appealed to the membership to not become apathetic and that, with their help, we can win this seat together.
“Now the real work begins,” concluded Neufeld.
