An illegal marijuana grow has been found and dismantled by police, according to RCMP Cpl. Darryl Orr.

Orr said that on Sept.17, police followed up on a tip and discovered 77 marijuana plants with a street value of roughly $10,000, in a remote location about a kilometre off the Rialto Forest Service Road (which is about 10km northwest of Castlegar).

“The plants were being watered by an automatic watering system which consisted of hosing which was run to the site from a nearby creek,” he said. “A timer was being utilized to cycle the water as needed.”

Orr said they also found numerous containers of fertilizer and other growing equipment, but no suspects, as the operation was on Crown land. Police destroyed the plants.
