Pass Creek Fall Fair 2015 a screaming success (with photo gallery)
The Pass Creek Fall Fair enjoyed a record-breaking two days last weekend, with as many as 4,000 people passing through the gates, including volunteers, vendors and horse-show participants, etc.
As many as 150 volunteers pitched in to make this year, the event’s 20th anniversary, the best one yet, said exhibition society director Rick Smith.
“Our previous record for a Saturday was around 1,200 – 1,300 people paying for entrance,” Smith said. “This Saturday was more like 2,000.
”
A variety of factors colluded to make the weekend a wonderful win, with stunning sunshine and a slight breeze to keep revellers comfortable.
A major draw, according to Smith, was the daredevil crew doing motorcycle stunt shows.
“It was a very good, very professional show,” he said, adding the shows were wild. “Someone behind me said, ‘I hope their mothers don’t know what they’re doing’. I thought that was funny – one of the riders, Kris Garwasiuk, had his mom and dad there with him.”
There were also roughly 50 vendors, displays, live animals, Dirty Diggers, horse shows, a clown, live entertainment and so much more – and they haven’t raised the entry fee of $5 since 1998 (kids under six get in free).
Smith said they’re hoping to see, next year, some more entries for arts/crafts/woodworking/photography, baking and preserves, beer and wine, flowers, needlecraft, sewing/spinning/weaving, farming and the youth competition. The competition is fun for everyone, and anyone can enter.
The Pass Creek Fall Fair has repeatedly been voted the Best Small Fair in B.C. by B.C. Fairs Association, and organizers plan to make the next 20 years even better.
