The City of Trail and CUPE Local 2087 are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached following negotiations for the renewal of the Collective Agreement. The term of the renewed agreement, retroactive to March 1, 2015, is set for five years with wage increases of two per cent annually. The new agreement also includes improvements to extended health benefits and contract language.

Trail City Council approved the terms of the agreement on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 and the CUPE bargaining unit ratified the agreement on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

“The City is pleased the negotiations have concluded successfully, providing certainty in the provision of municipal services in the coming years,” said Councillor Robert Cacchioni, council’s representative on the city’s bargaining committee. “Overall, we are happy the agreement reflects fairness for the employees and is respectful of the City’s taxpayers. We are also confident this agreement will ensure a positive working environment and relationship for the City and its unionized employees.”

“I’d like to thank our bargaining committee and staff representative for their hard work in reaching this deal,” said CUPE President, Jean Poole. “We had a productive and respectful round of bargaining and we look forward to serving residents and businesses in the City of Trail.”
