Council chambers was filled to the brim last night as community members came to view the premiere of a three-minute film commissioned by the Village of Salmo titled Where all Roads Lead.

The film was produced as part of the public consultation and asset mapping process planned for the development of a new official community plan for the Village called ‘Sustainable Salmo’. Chief Administrator Diane Kalen-Sukra introduced the film as part of the annual audio-visual progress report to council on the Strategic Plan. See report here. http://salmo.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/CAO-PowerPoint-2016-FINAL.pdf

The film showcases the community priorities, assets, values and vision of the people of Salmo as identified in a Sustainable Salmo survey completed by 10 per cent of the population and Salmo lifestyle photo contest which had 40 submissions and over 2,200 votes cast. These priorities, in order, are: (1) Clean Air and Water, (2) Access to Nature, (3) Sense of Community, (4) Peace and Quiet, (5) Lifestyle, (6) Affordability. Over 100 residents of Salmo participated in the making of the film.

The stars of the film are Salmo residents and include voiceover by renowned motion picture artist Andy Geller (trailers for Finding Nemo, Armaggedon, The Sixth Sense) and an appearance by eight-time Grammy award winning electronic music artist Skrillex.

The next step in the Sustainable Salmo public consultation process involves four monthly public workshops scheduled from September to December 2016.
