Selkirk College Welcomes Lieutenant Governor to Homecoming Weekend
The Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, will be one of the special guests at the Selkirk College 50th Anniversary Homecoming Weekend celebration.
The representative of Her Majesty The Queen in British Columbia, The Lieutenant Governor will take part in the Through The Decades Gala which goes Saturday night at the Castlegar Campus.
“We are very pleased to have Her Honour celebrate this special occasion with us,” says Selkirk College President Angus Graeme. “The Lieutenant Governor visited Selkirk College last year and toured the Castlegar Campus. She is very genuine and interested in community colleges, it will be great to have her meet with all those in attendance at the Gala.”
The Honourable Judith Guichon was sworn-in as the 29th Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia in November, 2012. Prior to this appointment she owned and operated the Gerard Guichon Ranch Limited in the Nicola Valley. The Guichon family has ranched in the area since 1878 and two of her four children now manage the operation in the province’s interior.
The Selkirk College Homecoming Weekend includes a free Saturday morning community breakfast (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.) that will be followed by a Commemorative Celebration and recognition of The Great Trek (11 a.m. to noon). The Through The Decades Gala starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are still available at the door.
