Rossland:  On December 14, 2018, RCMP received a report that a man and woman were having sex in the laundry room of an apartment building in Rossland. The sex, it turned out upon investigation, was only simulated; it was a ploy to get, or keep, other people out of the laundry room so the male of the pair could steal money from the washers and dryers.  The RCMP apprehended both of them, and theft charges are being pursued against them.

The man and woman were both, according to the RCMP report, “known to police.” They will make their first appearance on February 7, 2019, in Rossland Provincial Court.

The RCMP are reminding everyone to keep their cars locked and clear of anything of value.

There will be more police officers out on the road conducting pro-active roadblocks and traffic stops looking for impaired driving, distracted driving, seatbelts, speeding, and other offences throughout December 2018 in Trail, Warfield, Rossland, Fruitvale, and Montrose.  The RCMP remains committed to keeping our roadways safe throughout the holidays so everyone can enjoy theirs.

Please be vigilant this holiday season and report anyone you may suspect of drinking and driving to the Trail and Greater District RCMP Detachment at (250) 364-2566.
