One man sent to hospital after truck destroys lamp post
One man has been sent to hospital after an MVI in Downtown Castlegar this afternoon, according to Fire Chief Sam Lattanzio.
Lattanzio said they got the call at 2:10 p.m., advising that a vehicle had hit a lamp standard and the occupant had collapsed.
“When we arrived on scene, the occupant was in care of BCAS and was transported to hospital,” Lattanzio said. “It was a north-bound vehicle (a pick-up truck) headed toward Robson, at the Castlegar end of the bridge.”
Traffic was reduced to single-lane alternating for about an hour.
He said the lamp post was destroyed and the vehicle appears to be totalled. There is not yet word of the driver’s condition, and no damage estimate is currently available. RCMP are investigating the cause of the crash.
