More details are available regarding five-vehicle crash in downtown Trail yesterday.
West Kootenay Traffic Services Sgt. Chad Badry said an RCMP member was driving along Hwy 22 up by the Cominco Hill heading out of Trail when she witnessed a driver heading in the opposite direction at a speed, “that was exceeding the 70/km per hour speed limit.”
She turned on her lights and turned around with the intention of pulling over said driver, but lost eye contact with the vehicle as it went around the curve at the bottom of the hill.
“She caught up in time to witness the crash,” Badry said, confirming five vehicle were involved, but there were no major injuries. “The driver was arrested for dangerous driving and released without charges pending (completion of) our investigation.”

Police, ambulance and fire crews responded to a five-vehicle MVI this afternoon at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Victoria Street, according to KBRFR Cpt. Grant Tyson.
He said the call came in at 3:30 p.m., crews arrived on scene at 3:33 p.m.
The highway was closed for over an hour, but traffic is now moving smoothly.
He said one person was transported to hospital with minor injuries, three vehicles were badly damaged, and that police are investigating the crash.
