Big White Resort may soon be boasting a non-medicinal cannabis store in the near future, according to a press release issued last week by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) regarding their April 24 regular meeting.

“The Board supported the application by Monashee Mountain Cannabis for a proposed non-medical cannabis retail store at Big White Resort,” the release read.

“The application was referred by the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) to the RDKB for review and comment.”

The release said the RDKB held a public meeting at Big White, solicited comments from the public online at jointheconversation.rdkb.com and by email.

“Many comments received were not directly related to the application and outside of what the RDKB was able or mandated to consider in its review in the LCRB referral process,” it continued. “The application is compliant with RDKB bylaws and meets location criteria including visibility, parking, hours of operation and distance from more public or populated areas, so received Board support”
