Are you thinking about the upcoming wildfire season? Do you want to know what you can do to make your home more resilient to wildfire? The City of Castlegar and RDCK can help you be FireSmart.

Nine Wildfire Mitigation Specialists have undergone their annual training for the 2019 FireSmart season. These staff, with support from FireSmart Canada, will be available throughout the Regional District of Central Kootenay and in participating municipalities including the City of Castlegar. FireSmart assessments are available May through to October by highly trained, knowledgeable and friendly members of our communities. They will provide homeowners, neighbourhoods and entire communities with the most up-to-date and science-based approaches to reducing the risk of structure loss due to wildfire. Their expertise comes from cutting-edge training programs and draws on backgrounds in structure fire, wildland fire, forestry and emergency management.

The RDCK along with the City of Castlegar is leading the way with this innovative program, which can identify the measures you can take to significantly increase your home resilience to wildfire—and it’s free of charge!

Book a FireSmart assessment today with an RDCK Wildfire Mitigation Specialist. Visit the RDCK website at https://rdck.ca/…/servi…/emergency-management/firesmart.html to book an assessment and to learn more, or call the RDCK Wildfire Mitigation office 250-352-8177.
