City tax notices mailed, due date approaching

The City of Castlegar 2019 Property Tax notices have been mailed.
If you have not received your Property Tax Notice, please contact the City of Castlegar at (250) 365-7227 or e-mail finance@castlegar.ca
Please remember that for homeowners, payment of taxes is a two-step process. You must apply for the Home Owner Grant (HOG) and you must pay the amount due prior to July 2, 2019 to avoid penalties. If your bank is paying your taxes, please remember that they will not complete your Home Owner Grant for you. You must do this.
Taxpayers claiming the regular or the 65 and over Home Owner Grant are encouraged to claim online by visiting www.castlegar.caand selecting Home Owner Grants under the Residents menu from the top menu bar.
Payments can be made in person at City Hall via cash, cheque or debit. Alternatively, you may also pay at your financial institution either in person or through online banking. Payments must be received in our office by 4:30 PM, July 2nd, 2019 to avoid penalty. The postage date stamp is NOT considered as the date received. Credit Cards and post dated cheques are not accepted.
All unpaid 2019 taxes (including unclaimed Home Owner Grants) are subject to a 10% penalty after July 2nd, 2019.
