Break-ins and thefts in Warfield over the weekend -- UPDATED
Our local RCMP detachment has sent updated information adding to the original report of four break-ins and thefts in Warfield — more recently, they received reports of an additional three thefts — all from unlocked vehicles. The thieves damaged the dashboard of one of the vehicles and stole keys from it, stole change from another, and took an iPod, tools, a display screen, and a wallet from the third vehicle.
Police remind people of the importance of keeping vehicles locked, and removing any items of value from them before leaving them parked.
They also sent security camera stills, below, which captured images of the thieves. Note: photos cropped to enhance detail.

The RCMP believe that the four break-ins and thefts are related, and welcome any information that could help them identify and apprehend the thieves. Our police are asking members of the public to be on the lookout for a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and a thin woman with blonde hair, who were reported to be checking out vehicles and garages in the area with a flashlight on the evening of June 6, when the thefts occurred. The couple may be driving a loud-sounding car.
To report any information that may help to resolve this rash of thefts and prevent more, and perhaps recover the stolen goods for their owners, please call the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP at 250-364-2566, or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477 if you wish to remain anonymous.
The RCMP remind everyone to please lock their vehicles, homes and garages.
One of the hazards of alcohol (in excess):
In other police news, a man was arrested on Columbia Avenue in Rossland on July 5 for being drunk in a public place, and spent time in cells until he sobered up; the RCMP reported that when he was released from custody, the man apologized for the incident.
