The ‘Christmas party’ season has begun, and police are cautioning residents about taking festivities too far, according to Trail top cop RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

‘On Nov.15, at 3:53 a.m., the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP responded to call of a 36-year-old (Trail) male  laying on Hwy 22 between Rossland and Warfield,” Wicentowich said in a press release. “The RCMP attended and discovered the male was conscious and sitting up on the side of the road but heavily intoxicated by alcohol.

“The male was taken into police custody and lodged at the Trail Detachment until he was sober. The male stated he had been at his staff Christmas party and drank too much. The male did not have recollection on how he ended up lying on the road after he left his Christmas party.

“The Trail and Greater District RCMP would like to remind the public and businesses to plan for safe, sober rides home if they attend or host a Christmas party with alcohol. Thankfully, this male was not injured, but the incident could have had very tragic results.”
