Rec Site cabins closed
The District Recreation Officer for Trails and Recreation Sites BC has ordered that all day use shelters, overnight-use cabins, and other facilities that would make it difficult for users to observe the two-metre social distancing measures, be closed until further notice.
That means that everyone out exercising in the Rossland Range Recreation Site must stay out of the cabins during the COVID-19 emergency.
If people think that their own small group should be able to use a cabin safely by excluding all others, remember that the virus can live on hard surfaces for many days; and disinfecting every surface that a person might touch in a cabin would be a lengthy process. No one can count on that for their own safety, or the safety of others.
Trails and winter routes in the Recreation Site remain open, but users are reminded that even in the fresh, open, forest-cleansed air, social distancing of at least two metres is essential.
Soon, volunteers will be placing signs at the parking lot kiosk and on all cabins, but the order is effective immediately. For your own safety and to protect others, please stay out of the cabins – and keep your distance from other people on the trails.
