Castlegar Council Candidate Brian Bogle, in his own words
I have lived in Castlegar since 2005 when I was appointed Store Manager at Safeway. I have served as Treasurer of Knights of Columbus, Co-chair of Citizen of the Year Committee. As well as being involved with Minor Baseball and Minor Softball with coaching. I retired in September of 2019 and am ready to take on a new challenge.
I believe my experience in business dealing with budgets, setting and achieving goals and working with the public will help me transition into role of councillor. I am a proactive team player, with a consensus building approach to reaching decisions.
The City needs to continue to support Affordable Housing efforts by identifying suitable lands and seeking partners to build and manage the developments. Opportunities to lower costs associated with servicing the projects should also be considered.
The city needs to continue its involvement with the Castlegar and Area Economic Development to attract new business as well as supporting our existing business.
The airport remains an issue, while reliability has improved, the service changes due to Covid-19 add uncertainty to the future. I will support the lobbying efforts to improve the airport reliability and add destinations.
