During the COVID-19 pandemic, the City strongly encourages the public to do business online and provides the following Property Tax payment options:
- in person or online through your financial institution
- mail or deposit a cheque in a dropbox at City Hall
- via cash, cheque or debit at City Hall
- online via credit card at castlegar.ca/online
NEW THIS YEAR
The Province of B.C. centralized the administration of the Home Owner Grant. Now, all homeowners must apply directly to the province. Although the City cannot accept Home Owner Grant applications, we have included detailed information on the new process with the 2021 Property Tax notices. For more information about the new process and how to apply, call 1.888.355.2700 or visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant.
The City encourages homeowners to apply for their Home Owner Grant, a provincial subsidy that reduces the amount of property tax paid for principal residences, on time to ensure that the reduction is reflected on their account.
