Castlegar woman arrested for allegedly assaulting Trail woman with bear spray
On Sept. 5, at 6:18 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a report that a 27-year-old Castlegar woman used bear spray on a 50-year-old Trail woman in the 1400 block of Bay Avenue in Trail, according to RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Mike Wicenowich.
“A frontline Trail RCMP officer located the victim who was suffering from the effects of the bear spray. BC paramedics provided assistance to the victim.
“A nearby business and its employees were also affected by the discharge of the bear spray; however, no one was injured or required medical attention.
“The 27-year-old Castlegar woman was located nearby and arrested by the RCMP officer. Trail RCMP will be recommending to Crown Counsel that she be charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon contrary to Section 267 of the Criminal Code.”
