Arrow Flow Change Notification, river to rise 2.7 feet

BC Hydro would like to notify the public that the discharge rates from Arrow Lakes Reservoir will increase noticeably on Thursday, June 23 and Friday, June 24:

  • On Thursday, June 23 at 12 p.m., flows will increase from 595 m3/s to 736 m3/s.
  • On Thursday, June 23 at 1:00 p.m., flows will increase from 736 m3/s to 878 m3/s.
  • On Thursday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m., flows will increase from 878 m3/s to 1019 m3/s.
  • On Friday, June 24 at 6 a.m., flows will increase from 1,019 m3/s to 1,160 m3/s.
  • On Friday, June 24 at 7 a.m., flows will increase from 1,160 m3/s to 1,302 m3/s.
  • On Friday, June 24 at 8 a.m., flows will increase from 1,302 m3/s to 1,444 m3/s.

When combined with receding outflows from the Kootenay River, Columbia River levels at Birchbank are expected to increase by 0.82 metres (2.7 feet).  Please make safety your top priority when planning activities near the Columbia River.
