SED Emergency Response Team Assist Midway RCMP with execution of search warrant

RCMP said that three individuals are facing charges following a a search of a rural property in Greenwood Monday.

RCMP said that Monday, November 14th 2022, South East District Emergency Response Team and other RCMP assisted Midway RCMP with a search warrant execution on a rural property on Lind Creek Road in Greenwood.

Police said the search warrant was executed in order to seize multiple firearms on the property.

Due to the nature of the investigation, multiple RCMP resources were utilized, which included the South East District Regional General Investigation Section (GIS), National Weapons Enforcement Team, Forensic Identification Section, Crisis Negotiator Team, Containment Team and frontline officers from throughout the Okanagan and Kootenay Detachments.

“As a result, nine firearms were seized including a prohibited firearm and are being processed for forensic evidence as well as eight garbage bags containing psilocybin mushrooms and two plastic containers containing marijuana were seized,” the RCMP media release said.

“A 64-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman of Greenwood were arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Forcible Confinement and Uttering Threats as a result of the investigation.”

RCMP said in addition, police will be forwarding a detailed report to Crown Counsel with respect to firearm offences, possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule II and a Schedule III drug (marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms) as well as production of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

All three individuals were held in custody pending a bail hearing and have subsequently been released with multiple conditions including not to possess any firearms or ammunition.
