Dear Neighbours, Friends and Community Members,

As our community celebrates with the people that are most special to them, I want to extend my best wishes to you all for a very safe and happy holiday season.

Many parts of the province are experiencing colder than usual weather, so I also want to remind everyone to be as safe as possible. Please check local conditions at drivebc.ca and be sure to give yourself extra time to go slow and take care. It's also a good time to check on family members, friends, and neighbours who may need assistance during this time.

It's hard saying no to holiday fun. But BC's flu season is more intense than usual, especially for kids and older people. If you feel sick, and especially if you have a fever, stay home and keep others safe.

The holiday season can be overwhelming to many people. If you or someone you love needs mental health support, there are resources available 24/7, 365 days a year.

➡️Call 1-800-663-1441 for Alcohol and Drug Information and Referral Service to find support in your area
➡️Crisis support: 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433)
➡️Mental health support line: 310-6789 (no area code needed) or https://wellbeing.gov.bc.ca/
➡️Kids help phone: 1-800-668-6868 or text 686868

This month, 797 young adults from government care received their first $600 monthly rent supplement. Youth from care are at a much higher risk of experiencing homelessness. The supplement will help youth find and keep stable housing as they transition into adulthood. More youth from care can apply when the next intake for the program opens in spring 2023.

Over the Holiday season our Castlegar constituency office will have limited hours. Please call and leave a voicemail at 1-250-304-2783 or for a more prompt response email Katrine.Conroy.MLA@leg.bc.ca and Sarah will be happy to assist. Although we have limited staff in the office, staff will still be available remotely during regular business hours.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season,

Katrine Conroy
