New Seniors Health and Wellness Fair coming to Trail October 4
The Age-Friendly South Kootenay Seniors, the Lower Columbia Better at Home program, the Trail and District Public Library, and the City of Trail are pleased to present the inaugural Amazing & Aging Seniors Health & Wellness Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 12 pm to 4 pm in the Trail Memorial Centre.
“This new event is an opportunity for seniors to socialize, engage, and learn about health and wellness,” said Heather Anderson, Age-Friendly Coordinator for Trail, Rossland, and Warfield. “We know there is a growing need for resources for seniors, and there are several organizations in our region offering a range of public, community, and private services. The event will showcase these services in an exhibitor-style format while offering a social and interactive experience.”
There is no fee to attend, and accessibility to the building and parking have been considered so seniors of all ages and abilities can join in without barriers. The event will take place in the Trail Memorial Centre’s Victoria View Room, the Red Floor Room, and the gymnasium for the exhibitors’ room and tea from noon to 3 pm, two demo sessions of chair yoga at 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm, and a dance featuring live music by Peter Makortoff from 2 to 4 pm.
“We anticipate about 200 attendees,” said Anderson. “Guests are welcome to participate in all or just some of the activities. If you’d like to join us for the tea, the dance, or just visit the exhibitors’ room, we’d love to see you.”
The committee has issued a call to exhibitors and are accepting registrations until September 15. If your organization was not contacted, the registration form with information about eligibility is available at www.trail.ca/SeniorsFair.
