Trail man sustains non-fatal gunshot wound during home invasion

On Sunday, Oct. 22, at 10:30 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District and Castlegar RCMP officers responded to a report of a home invasion in the 400 block of Rossland Avenue in Trail. When officers arrived at the residence they discover a 55-year-old Trail man had sustained a non-life-threatening gun shot wound to his abdomen.

Officers applied first aid to the victim’s gunshot wound until BC EHS and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue arrived on scene. BC EHS transported the victim to hospital for medical treatment. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

Police learnt through investigation that three suspects had broken through the front door of the residence, assaulted the man, and shot him in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. They were dressed in black and had their faces covered. They left the scene in a dark coloured sedan.
