The Village of Salmo has issued a press release regarding the Glendale Bridge, which reads as follows:

Upon a structural assessment of the Glendale Bridge, we discovered there were key deficiencies that needed to be addressed. The deficiencies included undermined apron slabs, bank erosion on both banks and guardrails that have deteriorated.

“Council is pleased to announce the completion of the first phase of the Glendale Bridge project, this bridge serves as a major artery for our community and is a critical investment that will serve our community long into the future. Safey is our top priority for our community, and we are thankful we were able to get this project finished before winter arrived,” said Mayor Diana Lockwood.

“We want to thank the community for their support and patience. We know it was challenging to maintain the load restrictions of the Glendale Bridge in the last year, most notably the impact it had on school bus service. I for one, was very pleased to see the first school bus on the bridge.”

City CAO Ange Qualizza concurred.

“It is a win for the community to advance this work on schedule and before winter arrives and is a testament to the local expertise and skilled workers that supported this project. We are fortunate in this region to have strong community partnerships, and the permanent repairs of the Glendale Bridge are something to celebrate.”
