February is full of exciting entertainment for everyone at The Bailey
Trail & District Arts Council has a busy February ahead at The Bailey Theatre with music shows featuring classical music, jazz and bluegrass, and dance performances from ballet to an exciting children’s show.
The classical season ends in style on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 pm, with an intimate performance by award-winning concert duo, pianist Janelle Fung and violinist Marina Thibeault, when the audience joins the performers on The Bailey Theatre stage. Their program includes: “Invisible Cities” by celebrated British composer Charlotte Bray; “Sonata op.11 no:4 Fantaisie” by Paul Hindemith, the composer for the viola; and “A Pärtian Meditation on an Invented Folksong Dobrinka Tabakova – Suite in Jazz” by Ukrainian-Canadian composer Anna Pidgorna. Tickets are $30, or $10 for those 30 years old and under.
The following day, on Saturday Feb. 10 at 7:30 pm, JUNO-nominated bluegrass supergroup The High Bar Gang, featuring Bernie Bentall and Shari Ulrich, takes the stage. The band uses stunning vocal harmonies combined with banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and for a unique take on old time bluegrass. Tickets are $30, or $10 for those 30 years old and under.
The Jazz at The Griff series celebrates the month of love as the Melody Diachun Quartet plays a heartwarming evening of love-themed songs on Feb. 15 in the newly renovated The Griff. Enjoy a drink in the jazz style setting as you marvel at the instrument inspired mural by local artist Kelly Shpeley.Tickets are $30, or $10 for those 30 years old and under.
On Feb. 18 at 3 pm in The Bailey Theatre the Teck Family Series provides a shared experience for the whole family. Broaden your child’s artistic horizon with the captivating, interactive dancing light show “iLumiDance” by Rainbow Dance Theatre. Tickets are $15 per person or $10 if you buy tickets for both Kids series shows..
The month finishes on Tuesday, February 27 at 7 pm with Ballet Jörgen’s “Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet”. An adaptation of the beloved Canadian children’s classic, the show where 16 professional dancers will be joined on stage by 8 local participants. Tickets for the show are $45 Adult, or $20 for those 30 years and under.
