The Castlegar RCMP are investigating multiple theft from vehicles, two break and enters to residences, and a theft of a vehicle which occurred over the Feb. 17 weekend, according Castlegar RCMP NCO/ic Sgt. Monty Taylor.  RCMP received complaints earlier Sunday morning after property owners discovered property missing and vehicles rummaged through.

Taylor said as of this date it appears the incidents are related and have primarily occurred in South Castlegar in the Emerald Park and Cone Hill area.  There have been just over 10 reports filed with the RCMP and the investigation has identified the thefts began just before midnight on Feb. 17 and into the early morning of Feb. 18.

Suspect(s) entered unlocked doors and smashed vehicle windows to steal property, Taylor added.  In the break-and-enters to the two residences the suspect(s) stole vehicle keys and other property.  From a residence in the 3900 block of 9th Avenue, the suspect(s) stole a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck.  The 2016 Dodge is a crew cab pick up truck, dark blue in colour, a canopy and a bush bar with LED lights.

While investigating the thefts RCMP recovered a dark grey 2021 Ford Ranger pickup truck which had stolen Alberta licence plates.  The truck was located by RCMP in the same area of the reported Castlegar thefts and previously reported stolen out of Abbotsford the week before.

Taylor said Castlegar RCMP have seized footage that identifies a person they believe is responsible.  The suspect appears to be a male with a medium build wearing all dark clothing (note images recorded in IR so clothing appears light colour) with his hood up and a covering over his face.

Castlegar RCMP are continuing to investigate the thefts and are asking the public to review home or dash camera security footage.  If anyone has information they are being requested to call the Castlegar RCMP at (250) 365-7721.
